![]() ![]() A zoonotic parasite is one that can be transmitted or passed between animals and humans. The common roundworms of dogs ( Toxocara canis) and cats ( Toxocara cati) are zoonotic parasites. RoundwormsĪlso called ascarids, roundworms in their adult stage are located in the small intestine of the host. Animals with compromised immune systems, including the young, are more likely to develop the severe signs. With any of these parasites, the clinical signs can range from none to debilitating and life-threatening.
